“Let the people sing!”

Thespis Team are proud to support NNOS’s Spectacular Les Misérables 40th Anniversary Production

It was another proud milestone for Norfolk's very own Thespis Theatrical Costumiers to be part of this truly spectacular 40th Anniversary staging of Les Misérables at Theatre Royal Norwich. With the rousing phrase “Let the people sing!” as its banner, this landmark production brought together eleven talented amateur theatre companies for a rare chance to perform the full licensed version of this musical phenomenon. The show featured the iconic score by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, and English adaptation by Herbert Kretzmer.

This sold-out production was a collaboration between the Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society (NNOS), Threshold Theatre Company, Sound Ideas Theatre Company, and Echo Youth Theatre—an impressive coalition that delivered a performance brimming with energy and professionalism. What a collaboration of Norfolk amazing talent.

And what a performance it was. The vocal talent on display left no doubt that the line between amateur and professional theatre is becoming ever more blurred. Many in the cast brought professional training or experience, and the outstanding creative team crafted a production that could easily grace a West End stage. Our costumes and weaponry—designed and supplied by Thespis—matched that level of excellence, adding authenticity and impact to every scene.
