Miss Saigon - Thespis Theatrical Costumiers

At Thespis Theatrical Costumiers, we bring the world of Miss Saigon to life with an extraordinary collection of authentic and meticulously crafted costumes. For this powerful musical set during the Vietnam War, we’ve gone above and beyond to source genuine 1967–1970 U.S. military uniforms. From real flak jackets and M1 helmets to dog tags, webbing belts, and era-appropriate boots, every detail has been considered to achieve an unparalleled level of authenticity.

Our collection doesn’t stop there. We offer red-bandanna tumblers, peasants with upturned-wok hats, and exquisite Vietnamese Ao Dai dresses to embody the rich cultural backdrop of the show. To add to the visual and historical accuracy, we also provide high-quality, period replica weapons, including metal Russian AK-47s, American M16 assault rifles, and M1911 Colt .45 pistols. (Please note: strict conditions apply to weapon hire.)

What sets Thespis apart is our unwavering attention to detail and commitment to quality. When you hire from our Miss Saigon collection, you’re not only getting costumes that look amazing but also costumes that reflect the era, culture, and depth of this iconic show. Every garment is maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness, quality, and authenticity—our dedication to excellence shines through in each piece.

At Thespis Theatrical Costumiers, we believe in making your production unforgettable, and our costume hire reflects this. Why settle for less? Contact us to discuss your vision for Miss Saigon or any upcoming show—let’s bring your stage to life.

Miss Saigon, when first staged, was one of those game-changing musicals that sprang forth from London and conquered the world. It was part of the mega-musical phase which started (probably) with Cats and finished (sort of ) with Sunset Boulevard. It is a musical by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby Jr.

It is based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The setting of the plot is relocated to the 1970's Saigon during the Vietnam War and Madame Butterfly's story of marriage between and American lieutenant and geisha is replaced by a romance between and American GI and a Vietnamese bar girl. In the dangerous days before Saigon's fall in 1975 . Chris, an American GI, and Kim , a destitute Vietnamese orphan working her first night as a prostitute , fall in love. When the city falls , the lovers are forced apart, and each must find their own way , alone. When years later, Chris is able to return to Vietnam, he brings with him an American wife.Kim , who has waited for Chris , has raised their son, Tam, who is "bui-doi"-a term for a child conceived during the horrors of war. With so much devastation behind them , Kim and Chris must decide how to move forward. Miss Saigon is a tragedy of massive proportions: passionate, profound, and heart-wrenchingly honest.
